6-Day Kilimanjaro Climb – Marangu Route

Trek Snapshot

The Classic Hut Route to the Roof of Africa

The Marangu Route offers a comfortable, steady ascent to Uhuru Peak with overnights in mountain huts instead of tents. It is ideal for trekkers who prefer a gentler climb, solid sleeping structures, and a well-established path. This 6-day version includes a crucial acclimatization day at Horombo Hut.

Your Day-to-Day

Day 1: Moshi / Arusha → Marangu Gate → Mandara Hut (2,700 m)

Drive to Marangu Gate for registration and begin your trek through the lush rainforest. Enjoy sightings of blue monkeys, colobus monkeys, and towering trees. Arrive at Mandara Hut in the afternoon. Optional short walk to Maundi Crater for views of Kenya.

Hiking: 3–5 hours

Overnight: Mandara Hut

Day 2: Mandara Hut → Horombo Hut (3,720 m)
