8-Day Photographer’s Safari

Safari Snapshot

Arusha • Tarangire • Serengeti (Central & North) • Ngorongoro Crater

This 8-day photographer’s safari is designed for travelers who want time, flexibility, and the best lighting opportunities for wildlife photography. With extended game drives, early starts, and patient positioning, you’ll capture dramatic scenes of predators, elephants, birds, landscapes, golden-hour portraits, and if the timing is right, the wildebeest migration. Your guide understands photography needs such as angle, backlight, distance, and waiting for the perfect moment.

Your Day-to-Day

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to your lodge. Your guide will brief you on photographic opportunities, camera prep, and the safari plan.

Meals: Dinner | Overnight: Arusha

Day 2: Arusha → Tarangire National Park

Drive to Tarangire, a paradise for elephant portraits, birdlife, and dramatic baobab landscapes. Spend the full day capturing elephants crossing dusty plains, giraffes against the sunset, and wildlife gathering along the Tarangire River. Patience is encouraged for perfect angles and light.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Tarangire Area

Day 3: Tarangire → Central Serengeti (Seronera)

Travel to Serengeti with photo stops along the way. Central Serengeti is excellent for photographing lions, leopards in acacia trees, cheetahs, and large herds. Arrive in time for a golden-hour game drive focusing on predators and silhouettes.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Serengeti

Day 4: Full Day in Central Serengeti

Spend the day exploring Seronera Valley. Enjoy backlit morning shots, predator tracking, and dramatic action scenes. The area offers excellent chances of capturing leopards, hyenas, vultures, and hunting behavior. Sunset sessions deliver beautiful savannah colors.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Serengeti

Day 5: Serengeti → Northern Serengeti (Kogatende)

Drive toward the northern Serengeti with game viewing on the way. This area offers opportunities for river crossings (seasonal), large herds, and wide-angle landscape shots. Afternoon photography focuses on elephants, giraffes, and sweeping river views.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Northern Serengeti

Day 6: Full Day in Northern Serengeti – Mara River Scenes

Spend the entire day searching for dramatic photo moments: river crossings, crocodile action, dust clouds, and predator-prey interactions. Your guide will position the vehicle for ideal light and minimal disturbance to wildlife. Expect incredible chances to capture motion, tension, and scale.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Northern Serengeti

Day 7: Northern Serengeti → Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Enjoy a morning photo session as the sun rises over Kogatende. Begin your journey toward Ngorongoro with scenic shots along the way. Arrive in Karatu or the crater rim for a relaxed evening.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Overnight: Ngorongoro / Karatu

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater → Arusha (End of Safari)

Descend early into the Ngorongoro Crater for quiet, soft-light photography. Capture elephants with tusks, lions among tall grass, hippos in morning reflections, and the unique crater landscape. After a relaxed session and lunch, drive back to Arusha for drop-off.
